Christian faith-based audiences yearning for clean comedy with a bit of an edge will enjoy Nazareth, a native of Israel who came to the U.S. via Kuwait some years ago. In this hour-long standup routine, Nazareth begins with jokes about the trials of people of Middle Eastern descent trying to board a plane, adding gallows humor and feistiness to his gags about uncomfortable situations. From there, Nazareth tackles less biting material about living with in-laws and coping with the high cost of groceries, while also serving up a George Carlin-like bit about American slang (“Can you keep an eye out?”) and telling a fun story about proposing to his wife within hours of meeting her. A large percentage of Nazareth's act is inspirational material aimed at Christians, encouraging people not to give up on the seemingly impossible. Recommended.
