Meet Lanette, Lisa, and Quiana: young ladies who are living demographic statistics. These are the unwed, teenage mothers you've heard so much about, the ones who thought they'd find love and connection with a baby, but discovered poverty, loneliness, frustration, and regret, instead. Now meet Tenasha, Lena, and Keesha, who attend a school for the performing arts: goal-oriented teens, happy and positive in their outlook. Not a baby among them. What could have been an interesting profile of teens in very different situations is sabotaged by a heavy-handed presentation, leaden videography and a droning voice-over laden with clichés and pat remarks. Recommended primarily for urban crisis centers with a large video budget; optional for others. Aud: I, H, P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
