The Emerging Careers Library: Careers In Robotics; The Video Career Library: Careers In Engineering & Related Fields

Both of these programs are excellent, informative, overviews of their respective subjects. Careers In Robotics looks at the emerging occupations of robotics engineers, technicians, and programmers. For each segment, voice-over narration describing the typical duties of the occupation is accompanied by footage of people doing various aspects of their job. Interviews with professionals in the field give viewers a feel for the pluses and minuses of each career. Following each overview, onscreen information about the occupational outlook for the future, education required, salary range, and where to go for more information is included. The second title Engineering and Related Fields uses the same approach for 13 different careers, including: aerospace, chemical, nuclear, civil, agricultural, electrical and electronic, computer, and petroleum engineers, among others. Again, the overviews are brief-but information-packed, and the presentation is lively, visually crisp, and well-written. Too, considering the prices of many career-oriented tapes, these are relatively inexpensive, especially if purchased as part of the series. Highly recommended.
