One of the most completely democratic acts in modern America was the congressional passing of the G.I. Bill of Rights: a comprehensive set of benefits which would include unemployment compensation, medical insurance, education and job training opportunities, along with housing and business loans. Regardless of color, gender or economic status, the G.I. Bill offered hope and a possible future to 16 million returning WWII veterans. Combining archival footage and still photography, this outstanding documentary also includes personal reminiscences from a few of those old G.I.'s (Tony Curtis, Walter Matthau, Rod Steiger, Harry Belafonte, and Art Buchwald to name a few) as they share their incredible stories about a bill that would change their lives and the lives of so many others. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: J, H, C, P. (N. Plympton)
