In 1941, an exhibit opened in Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry that soon became the "must-see" attraction for children of all ages: located just off the rotunda, next to the chick hatchery, "The Great Train Story" display features an impressive array of model trains, along with a brand-new (2002) scaled exhibit depicting the 2,206-mile rail trip from Seattle to Chicago. A total of 35 different trains operate simultaneously on more than 1,400 feet of HO scale track, featuring 28 bridges, 1,485 model people, and replicas of the Sears Tower and Space Needle among the 500 buildings. In short, this is the Holy Grail for any child who choo-chooed his little Lionel train around Mom's kitchen and dreamt of adventure, travel, and far-away places. TM Books & Video has captured much of the magic of this unique exhibit in this colorful, entertaining, and educational tour. DVD extras include an audio commentary. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Carlson)
