Let's begin with a disclaimer: although the String Cheese Incident has oodles of adherents, this writer isn't really among them. I mean, why listen to a cross between the Grateful Dead and the Dave Matthews Band when either of those originals is more satisfying? Personal taste notwithstanding, however, by any objective standard it's tough to imagine that this moderately interesting documentary will win the band many new fans, especially since there isn't a lot of music here, save for the two extended performances (of “Miss Brown's Teahouse” and “BAM!”) that are among the disc's extra features. The rest of the program consists of standard documentary stuff: interviews with the musicians, visits to old haunts in their native Colorado (some of which, like Telluride, are quite beautiful)…and lots of skiing and snowboarding footage, as the boys carry on about the “natural spirit” that comes from being outside and its organic effect on the music (OK, sure). While the skiing bits--filmed by Warren Miller's company--are really good, unless you're down with the String Cheese Incident's sounds, this will only be of passing interest. Not a necessary purchase. Aud: P. (S. Graham)
