The Mob killed John F. Kennedy! The Cubans did it! The FBI/CIA did! About the only allegation not made in this entry from A&E's Time Machine series is that Abraham Zapruder, who made the famous 8mm color film of the shooting (and whose heirs made an astonishing $16 million selling it to the National Archives), was involved. Wait a minute…they made the most money out of it…someone better start investigating! The Warren Commission, appointed by President Johnson to exhaustively examine the evidence in the Kennedy assassination, has been a favorite target of conspiracy theorists for years, and this one-sided production panders to paranoid armchair experts with a list of interviewees top-heavy with authors and freelance “researchers” and “journalists” (no place of work given) who have books, articles and viewpoints to sell (I half expected Oliver Stone to show up at any moment). Not one actual historian or scholar is interviewed, leaving the lone survivor of the Commission, former President Gerald Ford, as the only voice (albeit a robust one) defending the group's work. Yes, legitimate questions about Kennedy's death remain, but this sensationalistic and biased work is more about raising ratings than lines of serious inquiry. Not recommended. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)
