This is strictly an upbeat, Chamber of Commerce style production lobotomized of any critical instincts or historical context, which is content to sell casinos, wineries, dinosaur parks, helicopter tours, aero-cars, wax museums, Marineland, and many more "tourist" attractions in one tape which moves faster than a barrel over the proverbial falls. But, for a video called The Wonders of Niagara, it contains one egregious oversight. This Canadian produced tape only covers the Canadian side of the falls! There is hardly a single mention of the American side. You would think, from watching this program, that Niagara Falls is entirely in Canada, somewhere, say, in north Saskatchewan. Ironically, I think if Americans had produced this and left out Canada, we'd hear nothing but whining from our neighbors to the north. Well I'm whining! While there is no mention of any American attractions whatsoever in this program, most of the beautiful shots of the falls that the video exploits in countless montages were filmed in New York state. They could at least have said "avoid the obnoxious honeymooners, come on over to our side," or "the Canada side--less mist, more mystery"...don't you think? Optional. Aud: P. (R. Ray)
