Have we run out of original ideas for good documentaries? Because the debatable and borderline silly thesis of "Time Thieves" is that if our personal time is a commodity of sorts, the powers that be in American capitalism might very well see us all as disposable assets whose minutes and hours are there for them. There might be something to that idea given how much America's service industry has vanished, leaving consumers to do simple tasks that minimum wage employees routinely did in prior times. But the film also dissects the time zones and national schedules of various nations, and concluded there are hot spots of industry manipulation of people in all these places, turning us all into slaves. That's just one or two of the strained assessments "Time Thieves" puts out there suggesting we are clock slaves for the Man and unable to make decisions about our time usage via free will. The filmmakers are a long way from persuasive. Not recommended. Aud: I, J, H, C, P. (T. Keogh)
