Transferable Communication Skills

Featuring commentary from workers in a variety of professional areas—including teaching, customer service, and the military—this first program in the five-part Transferable Skills series focuses on communication tools for success. Noting that most viewers already have some experience with skills learned at school or home, the importance of good communication in the workplace is illustrated here through topics including being clear and succinct, recognizing the differences between casual daily life (such as talking to your friends) and business situations, and being a good listener. Advice is also offered on body language and other nonverbal cues (such as eye contact), conciseness in public speaking and writing, phone etiquette, and e-mails.
