Catholic Colm (Barry McEvoy) and Protestant George (Brian F. O'Byrne) go into the door-to-door toupee business (is there such a thing?) during the height of "The Troubles" in 1980s Belfast in this misfire comedy. The plot is paper-thin (they must outsell the competition to win exclusive rights to sell men's wigs in Northern Ireland) and the film needed something more from director Barry Levinson (Diner, Liberty Heights, Wag the Dog) to rise above its bumbling Brit-com foundation--something that, like real hair on the heads of the follically challenged, never quite materialized. Note: single VHS copies are not presently available, but must be purchased as part of a 2-pk (although your favorite 30-days-after used video dealer will have single copies for purchase). The DVD includes diddly in the way of special features: production notes, cast and filmmaker bios and the requisite trailer. (R. Blackwelder)
