In her debut concert at Royal Festival Hall in London, backed by The Orchestra of London, the reigning diva of American musical theatre performs songs from such Broadway hits as Gypsy, Mack and Mabel, Song & Dance, Into the Woods, Company! and Follies, as well as a couple of tunes from her album I'll Be Your Baby Tonight ("Faithless Love" and "No One Is Alone," the latter also a Sondheim song from Into the Woods). While many concert videos are not exactly stimulating visual experiences, in this case we're talking about watching Bernadette Peters, an expressive, charming and--let's be honest--gorgeous artist. The audio quality of the tape is excellent. Between her remarkable vocal ability, the remarkable décolletage of her gown and the remarkable volume of her auburn hair, this concert video is anything but static. A bravura performance, captured in pristine audio, for fans of Broadway show tunes, as well as those who have followed Peters' career. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (P. Van Vleck)
