If you're not familiar with David Broza, the Israeli-born singer-guitarist-songwriter who's been compared with Dave Matthews and called “the Stevie Ray Vaughn of folk rock,” you're in for a treat with this 19-song concert featuring Broza and four backing musicians putting on a display of often-stunning musicianship in a jam-packed Tel Aviv club called Zappa in January 2006. Broza himself is a fine Spanish-style guitarist, and his vocals range from Matthews-esque to something that sounds like Burt Bacharach with a bad phlegm problem. Most of the songs are in Hebrew (a couple are in Spanish and one is in English), as is the thankfully sparse between-songs chatter (subtitles would have been nice for Westerners). Presented in DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo, this is a fine introduction to a world-class artist. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (M. Moore)
