Victor Borge and Canadian Brass Live! won Blue and Red Ribbons, respectively, at this year's AFVA. The Borge tape is, simply, a howl. This erudite, witty, musical wizard has been thrilling audiences for decades with his wildly inventive takeoffs on our most cherished musical classics. From Mozart to Liszt (whom Borge calls Fliszt), from sonata to opera, Borge merrily runs rampant across the whole spectrum, concluding with his famous "Phonetic Pronunciation" sketch. The Canadian Brass tape has its share of humor too, along with some beautiful horn playing. They cover the gamut from Bach to Fats Waller. The highlight: the outrageous music video (replete with MTV-style editing effects): "Boy Mozart." Highly recommended. (Available from: G & M Associates, 162 W. 56th St., New York, NY 10019.)
