Oh, no! Not only are best buddies Shaggy and Scooby Doo separated from the rest of the Mystery, Inc. gang, they're stuck in the Himalayas, where a crazed research scientist and a big game hunter are both looking for the Abominable Snowman (the High Lama of Shangri-La knows a thing or two about the legendary Yeti, but he isn't talking). Before long, Freddie, Daphne, and Velma interrupt their vacation in Paris in order to rescue their friends on the snow-covered top of the world. Chill Out, Scooby Doo! serves up a typical Scooby adventure, replete with seemingly supernatural phenomena, a twist ending, and plenty of Scooby Snacks. Longtime fans and young newcomers alike will likely enjoy this 11th direct-to-video animated feature starring the titular canine, which finds good old (if increasingly raspy) Casey Kasem still voicing Shaggy after several decades. DVD extras include a music video and an interactive game. Recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
