Based on the manga Comic Party, this opening volume introduces college student Kazuki, a doujinshi (amateur comic artist) completely surrounded by girl fans, except for his longtime friend, Mizuki. The five episodes here follow Kazuki's passion for comics and the steps he takes to become a successful doujinshi artist at Comic Party, the biggest convention of its kind in Tokyo. Comic Party Revolution is a comedy that parodies both anime and comics fandom, with each of the girl characters essentially drawn as a caricature of a well-known stereotype. Unfortunately, viewers unfamiliar with either the manga or the initial Comic Party anime series are likely to be put off by the fact that the new series features very little storyline and is simply full of silly situations and genre jokes. Presented on a dual language disc, rated TV-14, DVD extras include interviews with voice actors. Optional. [Note: Comic Party Revolution, Chapter 2 is slated for release on Nov. 21.] Aud: P. (K. Fletcher-Spear)
