"This could be your Sixth Sense," someone probably told Kevin Costner when pitching him the concept for this beyond-the-grave chiller--"could" being the operative word. Just how spine-tingling the film seems will depend entirely on how attuned viewers are to its often heavy-handed foreshadowing. Costner plays an emergency room surgeon whose recently killed pediatrician wife is haunting him with messages sent through his hospital patients' near-death experiences. Why? Figure it out when the director wants you to--a few minutes before the end, of course--and you'll get those tingles. Catch on too early and you'll have nothing to do but note the movie's many other shortcomings. Dragonfly delivers some good goosebumps, but it's too obvious about lining up its ducks for plot developments later in the story. Optional. (R. Blackwelder)
