Celebrating the big 1-6, Getting There finds media tycoon twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen setting out from L.A. to Salt Lake City for the Winter Olympics in their new cherry red Mustang convertible with a coed group of buddies. At first, the girls and boys split up, racing each other to Utah, but day one ends with car trouble, day two finds the group scrambled on wrong flights, and on day three (after they decide to stick together) bus woes divide the twins and friends into different states. Even though they miss the actual Olympics, everyone still enjoys plenty of winter sports, romantic antics, and lighthearted fun (although, for the record, their parents are unbelievably lenient, chaperones appear for less than 30 seconds, and the girls hardly ever buckle up for safety). Stylish fashion, partying, giggling over cute boys, and having unlimited charge cards are the elements that will hook most teens and 'tweens in this amiable adolescent fantasy. [Note: DVD extras include an alternate ending, a six-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, a trivia quiz, and sweet 16 party planning tips.] (J. Williams)
