Heaven's Prisoners, based on the novel by James Lee Burke, is the same old story with different actors. In the Louisiana bayou, ex-detective/alcoholic Dave Robicheaux (Alec Baldwin) falls off the wagon when his wife (Kelly Lynch) is brutally murdered. In order to save himself and his adopted daughter, he must exact revenge. With its predictable, by-the-numbers plot, Heaven's Prisoners is neither a bad nor good action thriller. It's the type of movie that's well-made with a fair level of excitement, but has no soul, no heart, and no mind. You might as well watch TV. (L. Russo)
