Impostor

Superbly atmospheric, this near-future solid sci-fi B-movie is a man-against-the-system action-chiller that takes place on a semi-decimated, totalitarian Earth, which is at war with aliens from Alpha Centauri. Mankind's last-hope super-weapon is ready to be deployed, but the point man on the project (Gary Sinise) finds himself on the run from government agents who believe he's been replaced with a Centauri replicant whose cloned body hides a massive bomb. Is he really an innocent patriot--or is he just programmed to think he is? Impostor occasionally lacks logistical credibility, but makes up for it with twisted Twilight Zone finesse, eerie ambiance, palpable paranoia and thought-provoking introspection on the nature of humanity. Based on a Philip K. Dick story, it has the feel of a less cerebral extension of Blade Runner and other screen adaptations of the author's work. Recommended.
