In the forest of Farthing Wood, humans are moving in, mowing down and tearing up the neighborhood, forcing the animal inhabitants to mosey on over to greener pastures. The animation in this lovely story is rather pastel and sparse, but the voice talent (including Ralph Machhio, The Karate Kid series) is good and the characters are charming. The forest animals--owl, mouse, fox and hare--who normally eat each other for supper decide to call a truce on all things crunchy on the outside and moist and chewy on the inside until they find their new home. Now that's cooperation. While the animals do ultimately reach their destination, the journey is not without a few sad casualties. But that's life...and nature; a good children's video isn't afraid to challenge and engage children's emotions. Strongly recommended. Aud: E, I, P. (N. Plympton)
