One of those films you'd just love to take under your wing, this indiewood primer in guerilla filmmaking stars John Viener as a Soderbergh wannabe so certain of his feature debut's success that he's already booked himself a room at Sundance. Granted, John does have one small hurdle to clear--the fact that he hasn't even written the script yet. Unfortunately, it's a problem he coincidentally shares with R2PCs writer-director Bret Stern, who proves (yet again) that high concept and a hip attitude alone do not a comedy make. Stern, who penned the hopefully more amusing do-it-yourselfer How to Shoot a Feature Film Under $10,000 and Not Go to Jail, wastes the film's clever premise with seemingly ad-libbed one-liners as unfunny as Viener's lead turn. Peppered with semi-celebrity cameos, as well as a handful of uncomfortably cornered film execs who dispense the odd marketing tip, this will be of modest interest to those contemplating an indie filmmaking foray, but everyone else should pass. Not recommended. (S. C. Sickles)
