Crazy cartoon capers continue for famous canine Scooby-Doo and the rest of the Mystery, Inc. crew in this adventure that finds the fantastic quintet (Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred) on a cruise vacation that leads to sightseeing in Sydney, Australia, and the discovery of a “Vampire Rock Music Festival”--held in an area so named for being the territory of legendary bloodsucker Yowie Yahoo. Due to strange goings-on (a vampire cyclone is whisking musicians into oblivion), event organizers are toying with the idea of canceling the festivities, until the Mystery, Inc. posse decides to masquerade as a rock band in order to get to the bottom of all the weirdness. With Australia-themed vocabulary and animals, a peppy pop soundtrack and the endearing Scooby crew high jinks here (yes, Scooby balks until he gets a Scooby snack, Daphne gets separated, and Velma loses her glasses), this is a predictably pleasant watch for fans. A strong optional purchase. [Note: DVD extras include audio commentary by Scooby, Shaggy and Fred; music videos; and a game challenge with hidden bloopers.] Aud: P. (J. Williams)
