New Line has outdone themselves on this 2-disc Platinum Series release, which boasts four audio commentaries, deleted scenes and extended takes, alternate endings, a detailed look at the mood-establishing credit sequences, DVD-ROM features, yada yada yada! Of course, all would be for naught if they hadn't devoted the same attention to the mastering, and though I did spot a few minor aliasing problems, this Dolby Digital EX 5.1, Dolby Surround and DTS mixed anamorphic widescreen transfer brings every detail of this meticulously directed shocker into sharp focus. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt star as two detectives on the trail of a serial killer who chooses his victims according to the seven deadly sins, a thriller that'll leave you with the creeps long after you've sampled all that this special edition has to offer--which is a very long time indeed.
