Conjoined twins go to Hollywood because one of them--just one of them--wants to be an actor? Yes folks, it's another cheeky comedy of good humor and questionable taste from the Farrelly brothers (There's Something About Mary, Shallow Hal), who gain a surprising amount of mileage out of rim-shot-quality punch lines--"You could be my stunt double," says ambitious Walt (Greg Kinnear, on the left) to reluctant Bob (Matt Damon, on the right)--while mining the flick's laughing-with not laughing-at sensibilities. But the Farrellys also have a tendency to rely on good gags to prop up shopworn storytelling, so despite its weird premise, Stuck on You all too often moves in obvious directions. Ultimately, while Kinnear and Damon (whose lack of resemblance is the movie's big unspoken joke) have good chemistry and comedic synchronicity, the film's screwball amusement doesn't stick with you much after the credits roll. Optional. [Note: Available in both widescreen and full screen versions, DVD extras include audio commentary by directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly; the behind-the-scenes production featurettes “It's Funny: The Farrelly Formula,” “Stuck Together: Bringing Stuck on You to the Screen” and “Making it Stick: The Makeup Effects”; eight deleted/extended scenes; a blooper reel; and trailers. Bottom line: a decent extras package for an uneven film.] (R. Blackwelder)
