Director Steve Balderson's The Casserole Club focuses on the more extreme fringe of Mad Men-era suburban swingers, specifically a group of bored housewives whose weekly casserole parties with their husbands become an excuse for drunken orgies. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes former Backstreet Boy Kevin Scott Richardson, Susan Traylor, Daniela Sea, Michael Maize, Jennifer Grace, and the Go-Go's Jane Wiedlin, the film mixes crudely-shot scenes of sex games among middle-class hypocrites with storytelling that embraces characters who are suffering the most from their closeted sexuality, or their partners' indifference. Often silly and repetitive, sometimes edgy and engrossing, this adult melodrama is an optional purchase. (T. Keogh)
