Make room on your dance cards for The Last Dance, a bizarre, but somewhat sharply written, whodunit. When the bitchy queen of ballroom dancing, Liselott Waltner (Ewa Froling), is found dead under the pier at the Champions of the Past competition in Blackpool, England, this twisted tale flashes back to recount the unusual relationship between Liselott and her husband, Lennart (Peter Andersson), and fellow ballroom buds Claes (Reine Brynolfsson) and Tove (Helena Bergstrom). Some dark details emerge: Claes and Tove have a marriage on the rocks, heightened by fertility problems. Lennart and Tove were lovers 12 years before, and Claes is a tad infatuated with Liselott's beauty. Though at times the dialogue moves at a sluggish pace, The Last Dance, for the most part, glides with delightful style and (double bonus points!) sports catchy ABBA tunes. A strong optional purchase.
