Aired on the Sci-Fi Channel, broadcast over radio, and streamed on the Internet, this video captures a live performance of Alien Voices' rendition of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. Alien Voices, which was founded by Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie and features several Star Trek vets, performs live readings of classic science fiction tales that combine the polish of staged readings with the excitement of live radio, complete with incredible sound effects and music, including original work performed by jazz man Peter Erskine. In The Lost World, we follow a group of intrepid explorers on a perilous journey into the heart of the Amazon in search of a lost world of dinosaurs. The vocal work of the ensemble is impeccable, the story is a winner and the sound effects artists create a world of ambient noises that set the mood for the piece. Alien Voices' performance of H.G. Wells' First Men in the Moon is also available. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. (P. Van Vleck)
