The Rescuer

"A story about youth, danger and how we treat others," reads the video cover. In this episode of the Christian adventure series for youth, Tales from Bledloe Ridge, the "Rescuer" is Rachel, a fourteen year old with a passion for nature. Entering the English Lake District, she discovers poachers who are stealing eagle eggs. Determined to catch the culprits, she draws Matt (10) and Cassie (9) into a dangerous situation. This fast-paced story contains the right mix of excitement and mystery, and the plight of the endangered eagles is a just cause. Ultimately, Rachel learns the lesson (presented clearly, but not overly preachy) that one must sometimes put other's needs before one's own. Lovely scenery, believable young actors (with sterling British accents), and a good adventure add up to solid family viewing. Recommended. Aud: I, J, P. (C. Dratch-Kovler)
