The French, they are a funny race. But you couldn't tell it from this rude and crude farce, a foreign film for the Pauley Shore set. Jean Reno stars as a 12th-century knight who, with his faithful vassal Jacquasse (get it?), are mistakenly transported in full armored regalia into the 20th-century by an incompetent wizard. Slapstick, bathroom humor and bodily functions rule the day. By the way, this is France's biggest box office hit of all time (it reportedly--and I use this term guardedly--outgrossed Jurassic Park). Suddenly, that country's idolization of Jerry Lewis begins to make sense. Not recommended. (K. Lee Benson)
