In this 1985 concert filmed at the Austin Opera House, Willie Nelson and his band hooks up with the Jackie King Band and the legendary Ray Charles. Willie does some expected material like "Whiskey River," "On The Road Again" and "Always On My Mind," but his interlude with the Jackie King Band (featuring Johnny Gimble on fiddle and Don Haas on piano, in addition to King's mighty guitar work) is nearly jazz swing. Ray Charles is the major thrill here, sharing his piano bench with Willie as they knock off tunes like "Georgia," "7 Spanish Angels" and "I Can't Stop Loving You." The audio quality is excellent and the video, also of fine caliber, has been edited to include brief segments from the rehearsals, which is an entertaining touch. Although nearly 15 years old, fans of Willie and/or Ray would surely enjoy this "special." Highly recommended. Aud: P. (P. Van Vleck)
