Watching this pitch-black Welch comedy is cruel and unusual punishment. Rhys Ifans and Llyr Evans star as the reprehensible Lewis brothers, who careen through the streets of their small town in stolen cars, do drugs, bathe together and become engaged in an escalating feud with a local contractor who refuses to compensate their father when he is injured on the job. They tear up his precious rugby greens. They urinate on his daughter while she performs in a karaoke club. They behead his dog. And then things get really nasty. The executive producers of Twin Town are the creators of Trainspotting, but this film is a real bummer with its unredeemingly loathsome characters and outrageously gratuitous use of the f-word. "Is it supposed to be funny?" a dense cop asks at one point, referring to a Dylan Thomas poem. "It's supposed to be clever," his partner replies. Oh. Not recommended. (K. Lee Benson)
