Amnesty International receives a 40th anniversary salute at London's Wembley Arena in this revue of comedy and music, hosted by the very funny Eddie Izzard. The popular transvestite comic kicks things off with a clever bit about the personalities of sundry bees in a hive, then ushers in a number of standup colleagues, many of whom will be unknown to American audiences, presenting material dense with topical UK references. Still, a lot of the jokes come through, including Phill Jupitus' faux telegrams from the likes of Geri Halliwell and Tony Blair, Jonathan Ross' monologue about actors (other than Ewan McGregor) who could play the young Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a grand finale in which Izzard and actor Alan Rickman (the Harry Potter films) help revive Monty Python's great "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch ("We had it rough..."). The musical interludes featuring U2, Tom Jones, Badly Drawn Boy, and Stereophonics round things out very nicely. DVD extras include Izzard's pro-Amnesty "Bus Tour of Human Rights Abusers."
