Korean-American Jason (Brian Tee) not only has a difficult time finding a girl to marry but also has to fend off arranged relationships set up by his parents (who consider their son cursed). Stood up at the altar when his fiancée runs off with the caterer, Jason winds up traveling to Seoul on business, where he meets the lovely Na Young (Kang Hye-jung). After romance flourishes and continues to grow following his return to the U.S., Jason pops the question via Skype, and before long Na is flying in to meet Jason's family. One problem: Jason has never actually seen Na standing up, and he soon discovers that she's very, very short. Convinced that stories of the old curse on Jason could be true, the pair grow ambivalent about their future, while Jason's family lobbies hard for him to make a different choice. Unfortunately, director Christine Yoo amplifies the silliness and satire to such a shrill pitch that this romantic comedy loses its quirky charm long before reaching a wild climax. Optional. (T. Keogh)
