Within the Darkness is one of those scary movies that holds nothing back. The film follows a group of wannabe ghost hunters who have been in business for a long time and finally land on a big investigation.
As they are filming their reality series, they get the chance to investigate the infamous Hewitt house where death stories and rumors come true at nightfall. It is all recorded by the ghost hunter's camera. Bruce (John Bailey), Austin (Dave Coyne), Lucy (Erin Cline), Nevet (Annette Harper), Spirit (Kaitlyn Dye), and Megan (Shanna Forrestall) star in this horror movie that makes you think twice about what you wish for because your darkest thoughts could come to life.
Within the Darkness has jump scares aplenty and scary montages that will leave you terrified of your own shadow. Although the crew started out faking everything, they get more than they bargained for when their nightmares come to life. Director Jonathan Zuck doesn't tread new ground, but his film has a unique peculiarity that is intriguing. Media librarians in public libraries should consider this title for their horror film collection.
