Master Bartender Bill Davis claims that if you know "the pour" and understand drinks as "categories" you can succeed as a bartender and rake in fat tips. Using a no-frills approach (no hi-tech equipment or flashy moves) he shows how a bartender can respond to almost any request if he or she has mastered some basic formulas. Not much wrong with that, but after awhile things get really really boring and by the fifteenth category of drinks poured from the same spot you are ready to order up a kamikaze for yourself. Anyone with a serious career interest would do better to consult Your Video Guide to Professional Bartending (VL-7/95), which features a contemporary approach, rich accompanying material and practical tips for getting a job, all of which are lacking here. An optional purchase. Aud: P. (J. Reed)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
