What the world needs now is certainly not another exercise video-but this one isn't. Sponsored by the Athens Sports Medicine Clinic (among others) and following the guidelines of the American College of Sports Medicine and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, the program begins with a series of tips and instructions from creator Pat Gelfand concerning proper attire, how to monitor your pulse rate, and the overall benefits of aerobic exercise. The main body of the program is then devoted to a 60-minute workout with Pat and two other instructors (Pat does the intermediate aerobics, while the other two instructors are conducting low and high impact aerobics.) Following the workout, Pat Gelfand (who holds a master's degree in food science) returns to discuss the importance of balanced meals-outlining the benefits of a low cholesterol, low sodium, high fiber diet. This is one of the best exercise videos we've seen. It's straight ahead, no-nonsense instruction by an expert as opposed to yet another actress of the week. Highly recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
