One of the real benefits in this program, which features yoga therapist and author Leslie Kaminoff (Yoga Anatomy), is the individualized instruction (illustrating a variety of poses and modifications) presented using four assistants, each with a different body type and/or health concerns. As Kaminoff explains, many yoga postures are difficult, and can sometimes be counterproductive—leading to wrist, hand, or arm strains while performing normal yoga sequences. Breath-Centered Yoga concentrates on the lower extremities—the spine, hips, and legs—while paying special attention to breathing techniques and individual range-of-motion limitations. The four sections include “Flowing Sequence” (a complete workout), “Standing Sequence” (a solid stretching segment), “Warrior Series” (using vinyasa form without the upper body stress), and finally the “Floor Sequence” (relaxation and breath awareness). Also included are five alternative audio tracks featuring Kaminoff's instruction and conversational interviews with each of the participants. Recommended. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
