Through the use of improvisations, group discussions with parents and children, and dramatizations, this video presents practical solutions for resolving conflicts and finding useful ways of reaching common ground between parents and their early-teen children. Moderated by Terry McDonald, an Associate Professor at Buffalo State College, the four 30-minute segments deal with a quartet of major emotions: Embarrassment, Anger, Fear and Hurt. While the video provides insights into the perspectives of both parents and children, and would be useful to some families and church groups, it also reflects a somewhat narrow and parochial view. Still, the core message is important; as MacDonald says: "by talking things through and recognizing that feelings are valid, parents and children may be able to heal wounds." Recommended, with reservations. Aud: P. (C. Dratch-Kovler)
