On the plus side of this cardiovascular workout, instructor Debra Minghi is talented, peppy and cute, the sets are fantastic, the lighting is fabulous, and I loved the music. But the cutting point in aerobic tapes is the choreography, and here Minghi's unorthodox approach is paradoxically innovatively fun and frustratingly difficult. After a definitely different warm-up, she jumps through movements quickly without adequate explanation or practice opportunities, resulting in a bit of confusion. While her combinations are very dance-oriented (she was a student of Bob Fosse) and provide a good workout, they're also hard to follow and seemed to require a lot of flexibility (that sound is my back cracking). Still, I did like that the requisite heart-rate checks were included, and was won over by Minghi's relaxed attitude ("if you make a mistake, who cares?"). On balance, this challenging workout is recommended for the always-hungry-for-variety exercise crowd. A companion volume, Gospel Moves Workout, featuring Debra Minghi, is also available at the same price. Aud: P. (E. Druda)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
