These three EAV productions are part of the "Music Appreciation Series", originally done as a set of filmstrips with accompanying audiocassettes. In Copland: Rodeo, video enhancement techniques are used on the static pictures, and several snippets of film are included--primarily of bronco riding, to give a visual impact to the Copland's feisty piece. In Grofe: Grand Canyon Suite, filmstrip and full-motion video are intercut to present an overview of the Grand Canyon seen from dawn to sunset. And in Sousa et al: The Stars and Stripes Forever and Other American Band Favorites, the title cut, Paul Preston's "Square Dance '76" (inspired by, and using some of the same scenes from, Copland's "Rodeo"), and Morton Gould's "American Salute" are featured. Unlike some of the animated titles in the "Music Appreciation Series", the static shots of a girl standing by a fence, or a mountain at dusk, or, worse, stills of people dancing, are likely to bore its primary audience--elementary through junior high students. Still, these would be appropriate for school music appreciation classes. Booklets are included with each title. (Available from: EAV, Pleasantville, NY 10570).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
