Produced in conjunction with the Better Business Bureau as part of an ongoing series of consumer education videos, Corrective Eye Surgery: Reading Between the Lines is aimed at the approximately 1.5 million American adults (2000 figure) who undergo corrective eye surgery with varying degrees of success. Focused on helping consumers make wise choices when choosing a procedure and a surgeon, the program explains the pros and cons of different methods of vision correction, illustrates how common vision correction techniques work, offers advice for finding and evaluating surgeons, and provides resources for checking a surgeon's board certification. I found the list of questions you should ask a surgeon particularly helpful, especially as I had vision correction surgery when I was 27, and didn't give a thought as to the doctor's experience or qualifications. While I now consider myself lucky that it turned out so well, not all operations do, and tens of thousands of dissatisfied patients file complaints with the BBB each year. A valuable program for all who are even remotely considering eye surgery, this is recommended. Aud: P. (J. Asala)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
