I thought I knew everything about wrestling from watching WWF on a regular basis, but apparently some essentials have slipped past me. Although the wrestlers here aren't wearing tights and makeup, and coach Dan Gable isn't exactly Vince McMahon, this instructional guide seems to be about the same sport (albeit real, as opposed to rigged) that has re-captured America's kids in a big way. Coach Gable gets right down to business with two state champion wrestlers who demonstrate various standing positions, such as the "go behind," the "whipover," and a "driving leg tackle" without--unfortunately--much explanation of how we at home can do the same. While this would be useful to high school and college level wrestlers and coaches already familiar with the basics who wish to refine their skills, this wouldn't be suitable for the turned-on 10-year-old who wants to be the next Hulk Hogan. Two other titles in the series, Bottom Position and Top Position, are also available for the same price. Recommended for the target audience. Aud: H, C, P. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards.
