A small German town near the Czech border, Seiffen's (pronounced "Zy-fen") principal claim to fame is as the birthplace of the nutcracker (the wooden soldier device for breaking nuts, not the well known Christmas ballet). Behind the former Iron Curtain until 1989, Seiffen's isolation has preserved a way of life amongst its many woodworking specialists, and Discover Seiffen features some of these masters in extended sequences. Unfortunately, the title is a bit misleading (unless woodcarving is the only interesting feature of the village), since the tape is virtually all about woodworking. Even so, this is recommended for larger arts and crafts, as well as seasonal, collections. Aud: P. (R. Ray)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
