Familiar scenario: When the parents are away, the teens decide to play. In this case, Kevin pressures Amy into making a "beer run," Mike accompanies her, the car crashes, Mike is paralyzed, and Amy goes to jail. However, this is not your usual warning against drunk driving. Using a different tack, the program presents a sort of mock trial which puts the viewer in the jury box, while demonstrating the civil ramifications of a drunk driving incident. Mike is suing Amy and Kevin for medical and personal damages, and the case is presented in true-to-life format, with witnesses testifying and lawyers cross-examining. It's a great concept, and could have been well-presented, but unfortunately the production values are distractingly low. The acting is mediocre, as is the camera work (the iris must have been on automatic because the picture tint kept fluctuating throughout the entire program). The accompanying materials focus strictly on legal terms and related information. Optional. Aud: J, H. (E. Gieschen)
