Often while doing her math homework, six-year-old Siri Grandhe would see patterns and relationships with numbers and come up with shortcuts to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems. After her father saw her “math tricks,” he did what any red blooded American parent would do: formed a company, became her agent, scheduled appearances on talk shows, and now--five years later--has produced a video. EZ Math Trix shows Siri and others demonstrating over 60 of her tricks, including card, dice, and domino tricks. The DVD menu is nicely organized by functions with the individual tricks listed and accessible within each “chapter” (a definite plus, since locating segments on the two-tape VHS version would be a bit of a nightmare, as each only lasts a few minutes). While the production quality is only fair, and the host is obviously reading cue cards off to the side, EZ Math Trix would be a fun addition to elementary or junior high math curricula (if employed in small doses), as well as in public libraries, since general numerophiles will find it enjoyable.
