Kowboy Kal konkocts a kornucopia of klever, kustomized, and komplicated rope routines in kowboy klothing to klunky kowboy kadences in a video which left me not only with broken wall hangings, alarmed pets and serious and socially un-presentable leg burns, but also the tendency to katastrophically misspell things. Kowboy Kal (Kalvin Cook), the world's record holder for the largest loop ever spun (97 ft. of rope), teaches viewers how to perform various flat loops on a one camera set featuring a fake cactus, a wagon wheel and lots of "yippie tie yi yo--whoopie" musical tracks. Kowboy Kal is likeable, his fancy tricks are made to look easy, and some viewers will be interested in the tendency of the camera to mysteriously and unmistakably focus on certain regions of...shall we say, delicately.... Kowboy Kal's Kalvin Klines during many shots. However, unless your spurs are really a-jinglin', it's doubtful whether you'll be able to master the difficult tricks presented here. Still, watching a grown man dance in and out of a loop he's twirling is worth its weight in tape as far as I'm concerned. Needless to say, any accidents you may have are your misfortune and none of my own. A strong, optional purchase, considering the general dearth of trick roping tapes on the market. Aud: P. (R. Ray)
