Produced by Emmy award-winning producer Lou Angeli, this program provides an excellent look into the daily work of firefighters around the country. Host Kathleen Sheean begins by providing a brief history of the fire service from its meager inception by Benjamin Franklin up through today's hi-tech 911 emergency and airlift services. EMT, ARFF (aircraft fire units), search and rescue, and wildfire services are shown. A final segment shows a fireman in a "prevention house" discussing fire safety with a group of K-2 children. Divided into three segments of 10 minutes each, this program is actually ideally suited for the 3rd-4th grade classroom, and offers superior video and sound qualities. As a viewer, however, I would have enjoyed seeing how the firefighter dons and uses his/her gear, as well as more action sequences. Still, this is recommended. (J. Scholtz)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
