Hosted by Judi Garman, one of the most winning collegiate softball coaches in the country, Hitting and Base Running is one of three titles in a series designed to hone softball skills for older girls and women. Following a brief introduction, Garman demonstrates proper stance, bat grip, eyeing the ball, the pivot, the swing, and the follow-through, among other skills, isolating each movement into component parts so that players and coaches can follow along and check progress. Equal time is spent on the subjects of bunting and base running, and a timer is provided in the lower right corner to help the viewer fast forward to the desired section. Covering the most common mistakes made by players as well as techniques to avoid them, this program would make a terrific addition to any sports collection. The other titles in the series are Pitching and Catching and Fielding. Highly recommended. Aud: H, C, P. (L. Stevens)
