In this 3-part presentation, Boeing employee Dawn Beckhols is filmed at a seminar during which she first gives the basic facts of the HIV/AIDS landscape, then relates her personal story of infection, acceptance, and illness. In a third section, Dawn and a half-dozen other young, heterosexual women share their struggles and victories living with HIV/AIDS. Despite its bare-bones production values, this tape is straightforward, up-to-date, and poignant (Beckhols continued teaching as an AIDS Awareness Educator before her recent passing). The facts of transmission and protection can never be repeated too often, especially at a price of $6.50. Highly recommended for high school and public libraries. Aud: H, P. (K. Glaser)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
